Glyde Rangers 1-18 Naomh Martin B 0-8

Glyde scored a comfortable victory against Martins 2nd string without having to really break into full stride. Despite conceding the first score to Micky McDonnell after only a minute, Glyde were dominant through the field, although like the match v Roche last week were not entirely lethal when it came to score taking. That said, Trevor O'Brien finished the game with 5 points and Brian Duffy with 4, both playing in the full Forward line. Ciaran Sheridan scored Glydes only goal from the penalty spot after 8 minutes in the 1st half after the Martins keeper pulled down Dion Conlon and was lucky not to get a black card. Glyde eased their way into a comfortable lead by half time, 1-11 to 0-3, with Niall Sharkey grabbing 2 from wing back, as he constantly plundered at a pace the Martins defence could not handle. Alan Brennan was also linking up well and laying offsome great attacking passes.
The 2nd half was a foregone conclusion and although the Martins showed a bit more adventure from their mass defence 1st half style, Glyde never really got going and as both teams emptied their bench, the game lost a lot of its shape.
Dion Conlon constantly probed the Martins defence and was unlucky to hit the post late on and Conor Sheridan was always a threat, linking up with Duffy to be the 7th Glyde player to score in the game. In truth the defence were never seriously tested but Fiachra Sheridan and Gerard Farrell were always in control in the corner back slots. Glyde will have tougher tasks ahead, especially the local derby v Westerns next Friday evening and although Bannisteoir Mark Gilsenan will be satisfied to have got the win, he will know there will be more to do in that game.
Glyde team

Subs used, Kevin Kane, Niall Bird, Peter Duffy, JP Boyle, Barry Sharkey, Gavin Duffy.
Glyde 1-12 Westerns 0-9
Glyde stretched their unbeaten start to the season in all competitions to 7 games as they overcame Westerns in a tense derby in Tallanstown on Friday evening. It was a tight game and Glyde only really pulled away in the last few minutes from a Tommy Durnin inspired team.
In fact Westerns were 2 points up after only 2 minutes as Anthony Durnin scored after only 20 seconds and Tommy followed a minute later scoring the first of his 6 points in the match. Glyde scored their first score on the 6th minute mark from a Trevor O'Brien free and Gavin Duffy scored a beautiful long range effort to level after 10 minutes. Glyde looked comfortable enough but were labouring for scores as Westerns packed their defence tight and Glydes final ball in, seemed to always find a Westerns man ready to scoop it up.  David Devanney has been getting stronger all year in midfield for Glyde and was making the most of the new mark rule from kick outs but also contributed the first of his 2 points on the 26th minute mark as Glyde finally took the lead. Other points from Brian Duffy and Dion Conlon helped Glyde into a single point half time advantage of 0-6 to 0-5 as Westerns only other scorer was John Lynch.
It would be fair to say that Glyde owned the 2nd half playing into the Village end and dominated in most positions. Niall Sharkeys pace from wing back had the Western defence scrambling and with Ciaran Sheridan having a right ding dong battle with Tommy Durnin in midfield there was little focus to the Westerns attack and only scored 4 points, all from frees and all from Durnin, in the 2nd half.
Glyde were beginning to find some space in the full Forward line as Brian Duffy began to make things happen. Barry Sharkey had come on at half time for the injured Conlon and his physical presence in the full forward line was counting as Glyde rained down a lot of high ball on James Ward and Shane Matthews in the Westerns full back line. It was from this style of play that Glyde got their goal after 12 minutes as Conor Sheridan collected inside the 21, layed off to Trevor O'Brien who then kept his cool and gave a short hand pass to Brian Duffy. Duffy, despite nearly falling under heavy Western pressure, slotted the ball past John Brennan from 10 meters out. Glyde finally had a lead but could not quite shake off the Westerns as Durnin kept them ticking over with his frees and Glyde continuously kicked wide after wide. Glydes wide count has been a worry all year and with 13 wides in this game, 8 in the 2nd half alone, they could have finished it all off earlier.
It took a couple of late scores from Devanney and a super effort, after a long run from Mark O'Brien to finally settle things down. They have a fine defence and Cein Sheridan in full back was completely dominating as Westerns seemed to be unable to put a serious attack together and when they did, Conor McGuill and Fiachra Sheridan were on hand to break it up. Aaron Devlin for Glyde, at half forward was picking up a lot of loose ball while Western players Colm Martin and Dylan Ogle impressed as did sub Terence Sweeney.
The game petered out in the end as Glyde steadily built up their lead but the result was never seriously in doubt. Glydes push for promotion continues but will have to work on their wide count and also search for a consistent free kick taker if silverware is to journey to Tallanstown this year.
Glyde
David Brennan, Fiachra Sheridan, Cein Sheridan, Gerard Farrell, Conor McGuill, Mark O'Brien(0-1), Niall Sharkey(0-2), David Devanney(0-2), Ciaran Sheridan, Aaron Devlin, Conor Sheridan, Dion Conlon(0-1), Trevor O'Brien(0-1), Brian Duffy(1-3), Gavin Duffy(0-2) Subs used Barry Sharkey and Peter Duffy.
Westerns
John Brennan, Shane Matthews, James Ward, John Murray, Sean McGuinness, Dylan Ogle, Colm Martin, Tommy Durnin(0-6), Anthony Durnin(0-1), Ciaran Scriven, Trevor Baylan, Andrew Kerr, Michael Maher, Gerry Curtis, John Lynch(0-1) Subs used Terrence Sweeney and Sean Peoper.
John Mitchell's 0-6 Glyde Rangers 1-14

8 points from Glyde Full Forward Brian Duffy and a Dion Conlon goal helped Glyde Rangers overcome a tame John Mitchell's challenge on Saturday evening. It was not a game Glyde were ever in trouble in and could have won by more but for the excellent goalkeeping of Mitchell's David Anderson.
Gareth Kane for Mitchell's actually opened the scoring in the opening minutes before Glyde settled down and reeled off six points before Mitchell's scored again. With Mitchell's operating a form of blanket defence, it allowed Glyde to run freely from the wings as Peter Duffy and Conor McCullough made the most of a lot of free space.
Glyde opted to bypass the defence with long high balls into Duffy in particular, and some good scores followed from the boot of Alan Brennan, Trevor O'Brien and Dion Conlon running through from midfield. Ben O'Brien kicked a free for Mitchell's after 25 minutes which was to be their lot for the half. Brian Duffy scored the last of his 5 first half points to leave the score 9 points to 2 at half time.  Anderson had saved Mitchell's after saving from both Brian and Gavin Duffy and a daisy cutter from Aaron Devlin.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Ciaran Sheridan dominating for Glyde in midfield and Cein Sheridan controlling the full back line for Glyde. Mitchell's did deploy Steven Coyle to full forward but with no support and Mark O'Brien operated as a sweeper for Glyde mopping up any attacks. David Brennan, in goal for Glyde, had never came under any serious pressure and used his long kick outs to utterly control the game.

Glyde seemed a bit lack lustre but came to life when Dion Conlon went on one of his powerful runs through the middle after 25 minutes, his looping shot dropped short. However Aaron Devlin went for a mid air flick only to miss, completely fooling the unfortunate Anderson and the ball eased over the line for the goal. Anderson saved again from Gavin Duffy later in the game as the floodgates never quite opened for Glyde. However further points from both Gavin and Brian Duffy sealed the win despite scores from Emmet Farrell and Steven Coyle for Mitchell's.

Glyde Rangers 3-28 Dowdallshill 1-8
It was a tale of the 2 full forwards as Glyde's Brian Duffy scored an incredible 1-12 and Dowdallshill's Aidan McCabe 0-8, as Glyde routed what was an otherwise poor challenge on Friday evening.

McCabe opened the scoring for the Dundalk outfit after only 30 seconds but Glyde hit back immediately and never looked back. With 8 players, including all the starting forwards, scoring for Glyde, their speed, energy and fitness was more than Dowdallshill could handle. Points from Alan Brennan, Dion Conlon, Conor Sheridan, Trevor O'Brien and both Gavin and Brian Duffy had built up a 0-12 to 0-2 lead just before half time when Ciaran Sheridan won a kick out from Hill keeper Noel Mohon. Sheridan layed it off to the other Glyde midfielder David Devanney who then found Gavin Duffy on a run and nailed a superb shot from the 21 into the left hand corner. The game was effectively over as Glyde set about in the 2nd half trying to reel in the score difference between themselves and the other Division 3 pace setters, Roche Emmets.
Glyde had built up a healthy 1-22 score by 15 minutes in the 2nd half when Dowdallshill"s Gerry McGrane finished to the net after following a rare attack. This seemed to stir the Glyde team and within 30 seconds Niall Sharkey scored Glydes 2nd goal following some nice interplay with Gavin Duffy. Glyde now went for the juggler and Brian Duffy finally scored Glydes third after being set up by Conor Sheridan on 20 minutes. Further points from Ciaran Sheridan and Dion Conlon kept Glydes score ticking over and Glyde seemed to be heading for the perfect night when both Niall Sharkey and Dowdallshill's Anthony Quinn were sent off after what can only be described as a minor coming together. McCabe kicked his 7th free kick to complete the game scoring after only the minimum injury time played.

All roads led to Darver on sat last for the u12 League Final Baile Talun vs Cuculainn Gaels. Game started well with Jack McKeever and Matthew Kane getting a foothold in the middle assisted by Aj  Finlay and Daniel Murray our backs were tight all game not giving their opponents an inch. Dan Kelly and Kiilian Daly were exceptional and once the ball got to the forwards the speed and accuracy of Oisin Lynch, Tadhg Kellet and Sean Devanney was exemplary. The Gaels had no answer to the introduction of Darren Mc Keever in the 1st half which made a great difference to the team, he was well assisted by team captain Lee Finnegan and Jamie McCourt to name a but a few whilst Oran Mathews was defiant in the goals .The teams' great effort was continually strengthened by the subs James Cahill , Cian Kennedy, Oisin Kelly, Conor Smyth  who weaved in and out when called upon to lead the team to victory. They  held on to claim the cup by 6 points in the end and it was an exciting game till the final whistle blew.  Great celebrations followed in AppleGreen and then the victory lap around the village .
