Glyde Rangers 0-15 Sean's 2-4
In a tough local derby Glyde continued their unbeaten year so far with a 5 point victory over the Sean McDermott's.
The football may not have been of the highest quality, and in truth the result was never seriously in doubt, but there were some hard hits to leave both sets of players knowing they had been in a game.
Glyde had settled relatively well and had taken a few scores, primarily by Trevor O'Brien and were 5 points to 1 up after 20 minutes. They should have probably being more ahead but a persistence with the long ball on top of Full Forward Brian Duffy was not paying off and when Kevin Mahon slotted home Sean's first goal on the 20 minute mark, it looked like we could have a game. Barry Sharkey responded immediately with a superbly taken point for Glyde but then a long ball in from midfield freed up Mahon again who was dragged to the ground by Fiachra Sheridan and a penalty was duly awarded. Tony Kelly smacked home the penalty into the top left corner giving Glyde goalie, David Brennan, no hope.

That was as good as it got for Sean's however as they only scored another 3 points for the rest of the game. Glyde were completely dominant up the middle of the field through the 3 Sheridans, Cein, Conor and Ciaran and when linking up with the ever excellent Niall Sharkey, Gavin Duffy and Alan Brennan they shredded the Sean's defence at times. The Glyde goal never came however, but between Brian Duffy's 4 points and Trevor O'Briens 5, Glyde did just about enough to keep their noses in front throughout the game.
An injury in the first half to Mark O'Brien mattered little in this contest, but with David Devanney also not playing due to injury, tonight's hard knocks could yet pay a price later on in the competition. With Roche only tripping over the line against the Westerns, the Division 3 League is still up for grabs.
